SUMMARY:Accelerating Radiation on NVIDIA GPUs
DESCRIPTION:Anastasia Stulova, Dmitry Alexeev, and Lukas Mosimann (NVIDIA
Inc.)\n\nThis talk will provide valuable insights for developers and resea
rchers in high-performance scientific computing with GPUs. We will explore
the acceleration of radiation simulation using the ecRad code on NVIDIA G
PUs, discussing the functional and performance-related modifications neede
d for code parallelization and GPU offloading.\n\nKey optimization techniq
ues for achieving high-performance will be highlighted, along with an in-d
epth analysis of the performance portability of GPU-specific modifications
. Additionally, we will examine important compiler features that help bala
nce performance, portability, and productivity, showcasing practical appro
aches to efficient GPU offloading. To offer a broader perspective, we will
compare a fine-tuned OpenACC implementation with an optimized CUDA equiva
lent, illustrating the above trade-offs with these two programming approac
hes.\n\nDomain: Climate, Weather, and Earth Sciences, Computational Method
s and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chairs: Michael Lange (ECMWF) and Bal
 thasar Reuter (ECMWF)\n\n
