SUMMARY:Leveraging High Performance Computing to Advance Health and Energy
  Solutions for the SDGs
DESCRIPTION:Natasha Nigar (University of Engineering and Technology, Lahor
 e) and Muhammad Kahif Shahzad (Power Information Technology Company (PITC)
, Lahore)\n\nThis presentation will explore the transformative role of hig
h-performance computing (HPC) in advancing the United Nations’ 17 Sustaina
ble Development Goals (SDGs). HPC provides a critical capability for solvi
ng global challenges, such as health disparities, and energy access. By en
abling large-scale data processing and simulations, HPC helps to unearth e
merging trends and accelerate innovations in renewable energy, healthcare,
education, and agriculture—key areas in the SDGs. The talk will cover pra
ctical examples of HPC applications, including precision medicine (SDG 3),
and renewable energy optimization and smart grid (SDG 7). Furthermore, th
e discussion will highlight the need for equitable access to HPC resources
in low-resource settings, fostering global collaboration in solving the w
orld’s most pressing challenges. The session aims to inspire the research
community to leverage HPC for achieving the SDGs, providing actionable ins
ights for the integration of advanced computational tools in sustainable d
evelopment efforts.\n\nDomain: Climate, Weather, and Earth Sciences, Appli
ed Social Sciences and Humanities, Engineering, Physics, Computational Met
hods and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chair: Peter Vincent (Imperial Col
 lege London)\n\n
