Student Volunteer Program

Call for Student Volunteers

PASC25 is pleased to announce that submissions for the Student Volunteer Program are now open.

We are looking for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral enthusiastic students who are interested in helping us with the administration of the event. Students selected as volunteers will be granted complimentary registration for the conference. Please note that the conference cannot cover travel or accommodation expenses.

BENEFITS

Undergraduate and graduate student volunteers will have the opportunity to:

  • Attend technical talks by prominent researchers and industry leaders
  • Develop lasting peer connections
  • Participate in and learn about the coordination of large events
  • Networking with researchers at the conference (a great way to find PhD / postdoc opportunities)

When not on duty, student volunteers can attend program sessions, as well as lunches and coffee breaks. If there are specific sessions that a volunteer would particularly like to attend, we invite her/him to let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate the request.

To show our appreciation we invite all volunteers to participate in a closing dinner on the last day of the event.

APPLICATION PROCESS

If you are interested in applying for the Student Volunteer Program, please contact us at info@pasc-conference.org from your university email address, and indicate “PASC25 Student Volunteer Program” as subject line. Kindly explain in a few lines how you became aware of this program and what motivated you to apply.

Kindly note that applicants must be available on-site for the majority of the conference. Moreover, all volunteers will need to be present in person from 13:00 to 19:00 on Sunday, June 15 (on-site training session), and from 07:45 until 13:00 on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Volunteers will be asked to participate in a 1-hour training session (via Zoom video conference system) approximately one week prior to the event start.

Please note that this opportunity is available on a first come, first served basis.

We look forward to receiving applications by Wednesday, April 16, 2025

Some impressions from the PASC Conference student volunteers

“The explanations were clear and the training zoom beforehand was concise and quite reassuring. The organisation was much appreciated as I was able to attend plenty of interesting sessions as well as help out with the ones which interested me most.” Lucas Gunn Healey (42 Lausanne)

“Volunteering at PASC24 was an amazing experience all round – the atmosphere was so supportive and fun, not only did we benefit from getting to attend a huge variety of talks from leaders in their respective fields, but we were also able to connect with like-minded students, and researchers, and share many fascinating discussions. It was also great to have the satisfaction of knowing that we were helping the conference to run smoothly – we all enjoyed being thanked in the closing ceremony! I would recommend the experience to anyone who wants to extend their understanding of cutting-edge Scientific Computing in a friendly environment.” Harriet Jones (University of Chester)

“I am grateful for the incredible experience I had again at this year’s PASC conference. It truly exceeded my expectations and was an absolute blast. Reconnecting with the student volunteers from last year, meeting new faces, and attending the highly informative and engaging talks, mini-symposia, and panels was an absolute joy and pleasure.” Joshua Durrant (ETH Zurich)
